The Club has recently introduced a waiting list for membership of both the Men’s and Ladies' Section.
Despite this, the Club is still open to new member applications at this time and encourages members to promote membership to likeminded friends, family and colleagues. The unique environment we enjoy at Royal Ashdown relies on existing members proposing new members to the club. Please find within this section information to aid you in your efforts and discussions with potential new members.
The traditional membership route requires an applicant to be proposed and seconded by members of at least 3 years standing. An introductory letter or email providing a background into their relationship with the applicant, their educational, employment and golfing history and their suitability for membership at Ashdown, should be sent to the Golf Manager ( DavidWilliamson@royalashdown.co.uk) along with the completed Candidate for Membership form that can be downloaded here,
Further support is then required from 10 additional members, all of whom must have been a member for more than 12 months. Of the additional 10 supporters, one should be a Past Captain of the Club and another should be a serving committee member. Supporters should put their recommendation in writing via a letter/email, again sent to the Golf Manager
Should gaining the full support for an applicant not be immediately possible, the candidate will most likely have to play some introductory rounds organised by their Proposer and Seconder. Guidance for members proposing a candidate for membership
Once the application is complete, it will then be presented to the General Committee for approval.
The full annual subscription rate applies to all members over the age of 37.
We have structured subscription rates for younger members governed by an applicants age. Reduced subscriptions are available to all adults up to age 36 with the following rate brackets used: 18-24. 25-28, 29-32, 33-36 and then into full membership at 37.
Additionally, discounts are available for members that live over 30 miles or over 50 miles from the club as the crow flies.
In addition to our reduced membership rates for members under the age of 36, all entrance fees have now been removed for any applicant joining under the age of 25.
New members joining between the ages of 25-45 or over the age of 70 will be charged an entrance fee of once times their first year's subscription fee.
New members joining over the age of 45 will be charged an entrance fee of twice their first year's subscription fee.
Payment of entrance fees can now be spread over the first three years of membership via monthly instalments.
